Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene Student Profile
Mr. Vishal D. Nathu is a MPH, Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene, graduate student. He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. He was the Interim Assistant Director of Health Promotion with Eastern Kentucky University’s Campus Recreation program from May 2016 to September 2016. He is currently the Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation Health Promotion program. Previously, Mr. Nathu was an Environmental/ Occupational Health & Safety intern for Owens Corning - where he completed various projects. His favorite was publishing the first-ever “Exposure Control Plan for Respirable Crystalline Silica” for the Starr, South Carolina Plant. He also conducted a few Ergonomics Assessments for their fiberglass forming operations. In addition to working as a graduate assistant, he is a Safety Engineer & Industrial Hygienist co-op for Toyota Motor North America - Specifically, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. He is assigned large projects, some of which include: Fall Protection for Stamping operations, Risk Rank Down (severe impact study), first-ever Total Dust Study for Body Weld operations, and Hearing Conservation program reboot for assembly operations. Mr. Nathu is actively involved in many community volunteer projects. He recently was involved in the University of Kentucky’s Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH) accreditation. He continues to be the Preventative Medicine coordinator for the Hearts & Hugs Foundation; a 501c3 non-profit organization that seeks to educate the community about the importance of preventative medicine and provide access to preventative healthcare.
